Art Nouveau stone statue
France, mid-19th century, marble (alabaster)
H 67cm W 25cm D 15cm
Base 15cm x 20cm
Art Nouveau marble statue of a woman.
It is carved into a huge alabaster pillar and has been beautifully crafted by the finest stonemasons of the time, with the drape of the dress and the softness of the skin all faithfully recreated.
It has a medieval atmosphere in the style of the Pre-Raphaelites from the early 19th century, evoking the atmosphere of paintings by Dante Gabriel Rossetti and John Everett Millais.
The base is made of stone set with cement, making it a beautiful piece that looks great anywhere, whether as a room piece or an entryway piece.
Why not place a genuine work of art that is over 150 years old in your home or office?
