Baby (Cradle)
ARTIST Gustav Klimt
TITLE Baby (Cradle)
YEAR 1917/1918

A Mosaic of Happiness Radiating from New Life, Enveloped in Overflowing Colors

This unfinished masterpiece, painted by Gustav Klimt—the darling of the Vienna Secession—shortly before his death in 1918, adorns the very final years of his life.

Amidst the turbulent historical backdrop of World War I, Klimt re-examined the cycle of life and death, capturing the figure of this innocent baby on canvas.
The baby, peeking out from a mountain of beautifully layered quilts that occupy most of the picture, is said to express a miraculous hope born into a harsh reality.

The colorful patterns in the background evoke the diverse possibilities and joys of life, and are sometimes perceived as a symbol of blessing for the future the baby will walk.

Overwhelming Color Energy and Refined Decorative Patterns, Reflecting the Influence of Ukiyo-e

Transitioning from his former "Golden Phase," the "pure color and decorative patterns" pursued by Klimt in his later years are fully expressed here.

Instead of gold leaf, the red, blue, green, and yellow quilts scattered like a mosaic strongly evoke the influence of Japanese Ukiyo-e and traditional Eastern designs.

The overwhelming energy of color radiating from this painting will instantly brighten the atmosphere of your room.

Displayed on the main wall of a living room or in a warm space where family gathers, it will add a gentle sense of happiness and refined brilliance to your everyday life.

Gustav Klimt

1862 - 1918

Born in Austria in 1862, Gustav Klimt was a master of fin-de-siècle Vienna who captured dazzling golden light, sensuality, and the drama of human life and death through overwhelming decorative beauty.

He continually revealed sensual, somewhat melancholic portraits of women emerging from within magnificent gold leaf mosaics. Discarding traditional painting conventions to express his desires and introspection with absolute candor, his compositions shook the foundations of contemporary Vienna and mesmerized the public.

Even within modern lifestyles, this dramatic and opulent radiance instantly transforms mundane routines into extraordinary theatrical stages, bringing ultimate elegance and mature romanticism to any interior.

  • Reduces UV-induced fading

We use standard acrylic panels, which are ideal for displaying valuable artwork. These panels block approximately 90% of UV rays from indoor lighting and windows, suppressing artwork degradation and preserving the vivid colors when you receive them for a long time.

  • Overwhelming reproducibility that even captures the artist's brushstrokes.

We've adopted a special printing technique that faithfully reproduces even the author's brushstrokes and layers of ink. Rich colors, 16.77 million of them, are laid upon paper with a moist texture that absorbs light. The work can be clearly enjoyed from any angle, without reflections even by a window or under lighting, preserving its original texture.
