Mechanical blowpipe
Mid-19th century, England. Wood, brass, bronze.
H 17cm W 60cm D 14cm
This is a blowpipe (wind fan) used in fireplaces, an indispensable item in old European homes.
While regular models are accordion-style and create wind by moving up and down, this product is a very rare mechanical blowpipe, with the blades rotated by gears.
The design is completely different, like a special weapon from the world of steampunk.
A brass plate is screwed to a wooden base, and the rotating handle is made of bronze.
This is a very interesting item, as it is rare even among European antiques.
Rather than using it as a wind-creating device, use it for display as a mysterious antique item.
I think this is an item that is probably completely unavailable in Japan.
