ARTIST Parmigianino
TITLE Madonna with the Long Neck
YEAR circa 1534 until 1540

The Supreme Altarpiece Bringing Classical Intellect and Prestige to an Elegant Rebellious Beautiful Space

An altarpiece painted by Parmigianino, a genius painter of the Italian Mannerist period, commissioned by Elena Baiardi Tagliaferri.

It has a strange history of being left partially unfinished due to the painter's sudden death in 1540, but later being displayed in the chapel as is.

Its major feature is a style that intentionally breaks away from the aesthetics of proportion of the Renaissance period and pursues elegance stretched to the limit.
The Virgin's supple and long neck evokes the expressions in medieval hymns that likened her purity to a "tower of ivory" or a "pillar," and its shape resonates beautifully with the giant pillar behind her.

Also, the figure of the infant Christ sleeping on the Virgin's lap is sometimes interpreted as foretelling his later death on the cross.

Refined Composition and Cool Elegance Reminiscent of Traditional European Palaces

The texture of the smooth porcelain-like skin and the flowing folds of the garments exude a supernatural elegance while being sensual.

The vertically stretched graceful composition and cool, refined color usage give the viewer intellectual tension and deep emotion.

This elegant work is best suited for decorating a prestigious reception room or an intellectual and calm study lined with classical Western books.

It elevates the entire room into a prestigious space like a historic European palace.

Parmigianino

1503 - 1540

Born in Italy in 1503, Parmigianino was a genius painter representing Mannerism, transcending perfect classical harmony to pursue the elegance of elongated limbs and intellectual distortion.

Throughout his brief life, what he continually expressed was not a mere imitation of reality, but a world of elegant and mysterious beauty refined to the absolute limit.

Exemplified by the 'Madonna with the Long Neck' and his 'Self-Portrait in a Convex Mirror,' his captivating, unique perspectives and remarkably cool brushwork offer viewers intellectual astonishment and sophisticated allure.

This aesthetic—classical yet inherently avant-garde—adds a refined, mysterious nobility to our daily lives, transforming any room into an exquisite space for intellectual salon gatherings.

  • Reduces UV-induced fading

We use standard acrylic panels, which are ideal for displaying valuable artwork. These panels block approximately 90% of UV rays from indoor lighting and windows, suppressing artwork degradation and preserving the vivid colors when you receive them for a long time.

  • Overwhelming reproducibility that even captures the artist's brushstrokes.

We've adopted a special printing technique that faithfully reproduces even the author's brushstrokes and layers of ink. Rich colors, 16.77 million of them, are laid upon paper with a moist texture that absorbs light. The work can be clearly enjoyed from any angle, without reflections even by a window or under lighting, preserving its original texture.

  • Reliable Delivery and After-Sales Support
